We took a walk through the North Carolina Botanical Garden this weekend. Although it is far from the peak spring bloom, there was plenty to see on this late winter afternoon.
Little Sweet Betsy trillium, dimpled trout lily and bloodroot were putting on quite a show.
Sharp-lobed and round-lobed hepatica were beginning to bloom. Rue anemone was sprinkled throughout the garden.
Northern spicebush and eastern leatherwood trees were flowering in the mountain habitat.
We saw two new (to us) flowers while we were there: yellow fumewort and limestone bittercress.
When you have a chance, take a walk at the North Carolina Botanical Garden. It will be absolutely beautiful there by the end of March.
