Asiatic Dayflower

Flower has 2 large blue petals and one small white petal. Each flower blooms in the morning for a single day.

Buttonbush

1.5 inch round flower heads packed with tiny white flowers. It looks like a pincushion.

Camellia

Evergreen shrub with large flowers that bloom in the late fall to early spring.

Clematis terniflora

A weedy vine with clusters of white, cross-shaped flowers. Often climbing on top of trees and shrubs. Fruit is a cluster with feather-like tails.

Heartleaf Pickerelweed

Bright lavender-blue tubular flowers in a dense spike up to 5 inches long. Flowers bloom from the bottom up.

There are one to two leaves, each divided into 3 large leaflets, creating an umbrella for the flower. Under the leaves is the pulpit, which is a green, hooded cover surrounding the flower spike (or jack). The tiny flowers are hiding inside the pulpit and they are clustered on a green or yellow spike. The flower size mentioned here is the jack size.

Japanese Honeysuckle

The 2-lipped flowers have 5 petals joined into a 1- to 2-inch long tube. The flowers are paired and supported by two leafy bracts.

Kousa Dogwood

The true flower is the small green center. It is surrounded by 4 white, petal-like, 2-3 inch long bracts that are pointed at the ends. These white bracts are commonly mistaken for the actual flowers. Flowers bloom after the leaves emerge, while flowering dogwood (Cornus florida) flowers before the leaves.
