Flowers are mostly on one side of the stem. The rays around the center disk are unevenly spaced and do not open at the same time. It is one of the earliest blooming goldenrods, beginning in July.

Eastern Gray Goldenrod
This goldenrod grows in clumps of unbranched stems, with the flower clusters on one side. The top of the flower cluster tends to bend.
Eastern Redbud
Clusters of pink to red or purple pea-shaped flowers blooming before the leaves. Flowers grow right on the stems of new and old branches.
Elmleaf Goldenrod
Arching clusters of flowers on one side of the branch. The wrinkled leaves are thin and not hairy.

A twining vine with funnel-shaped white flowers that have a yellow throat.
European Field Pansy
The flower has 5 white to pale yellow petals (sometimes light purple). The lower petal is the largest and has a darker yellow patch.
Evening Primrose
Cross-shaped flower with pale yellow, heart-shaped petals. The flower opens in the evening and closes during the heat of the day.
False Flowering Spurge
Loose clusters of white, 5 petaled flowers. A green, drooping fruit hangs from the center.
Field Pansy
Solitary flowers with pale to medium blue-violet petals with dark purple lines. Petals are unequal. The lowest petal is the largest and has a yellow patch close to the center of the flower. The two side petals have white hairs near the throat.

Tiny, white flowers in clusters. The seeds are flat, papery pods.
