Plum blossoms

It’s finally starting to feel like spring! It’s easy to see all of the flowering trees. The cherries are just about done with their blooms, but the plums, pears and magnolias are just approaching their peak. Do you have a forsythia bush in your yard? Their yellow blooms are out now. The eastern redbuds finally have some flower buds, so start looking for their blooms in the coming days. The dogwood buds are starting to crack open.

The field pansies are coming out in more and more places. Spring beauties, ivyleaf speedwell, and violets are also starting to bloom.

I took a walk in Bond Park the other day. I found some rue anemone and dimpled trout lilies. There was a beautiful witch hazel (Hamamelis vernalis) tree in full bloom.
