My field report is: Get outside and see what’s happening! Every time I go out for a walk, I can only take a few steps before I see a new plant in bloom! Things are changing so fast right now, I can’t keep up.
Here’s a list of what I’ve seen so far this April:
- Azaleas and wild azaleas
- Beaked cornsalad
- Blue eyed grass and annual blue eyed grass
- Violet wood sorrel
- Fringe trees
- Dogwood trees
- Black cherry and Kwanzan cherry trees
- Viburnum
- Coral honeysuckle
- Black locust trees
- Wisteria
- Blackberries
- Blue toadflax
- Red chokeberry
- Blue scorpion grass
- Cherry laurel
- Poplar trees
- And don’t overlook the small flowers on the oaks, hickories, sweet gums, hornbeams, junipers, maples and pine trees.
What flowers are you seeing right now?
