Japanese Honeysuckle

The 2-lipped flowers have 5 petals joined into a 1- to 2-inch long tube. The flowers are paired and supported by two leafy bracts.

Longbristle Smartweed

Small pink flowers on spikes. Sometimes there is a gap between the lower flowers. There are long hairs where the leaf attaches to the stem, and at the base of the flowers.

Bright yellow flowers with dark brown anthers. The compound leaves have 6-12 pairs of leaflets.

The flower has 5 blunt-tipped oval petals and a yellow center.

Morning Glory

Flowers can be white, pink, red, purple, or blue. They are funnel-shaped and grow in clusters of 1 to 5. Each flower opens once in the morning and lasts a few hours.

Old Field Cinquefoil

Yellow flowers with five petals. The leaves are palmately divided (like fingers on a hand) into 5 leaflets. The largest leaflet is sharply toothed for more than half of its length. (Compare to running five-fingers, Potentilla canadensis, where the largest leaflet is toothed for less than half of its length.)

Orange Jewelweed

Cornucopia-shaped, orange to orange-yellow flowers with reddish-brown spotting. Flower has a backward-pointing spur and two lips. The lower lip is larger and is split into two lobes.

Periwinkle

Solitary purple flowers with a pinwheel shape. There is a white mark at the base of each petal.

Piedmont St. Johnswort

Yellow flowers with five petals growing in dense clumps. Leaves are linear and needle-like.
