Each plant has a single flower. Each of the 5 petals is narrow toward the center and rounded at the tip. The center of the flower is flattened and surrounded by many stamens.

Clusters of tiny, white, 5 petaled flowers. The leaves have red hairs underneath, and have red stems.

Ornamental grass (sedge) with yellow-green seed heads that look like spiked corncobs.

White to pale yellow pea-shaped flowers with purple spots in the center. One to four flowers cluster in between the leaves.
Sicklepod
Nodding yellow flowers with 5 unequal petals. The leaves are pale underneath and have a slightly unpleasant smell. There is a small brown spike-like nectar gland close to the lowest pair of leaflets. The fruit is a long, thin bean pod that is curved into a sickle shape.

Lavender to violet flowers with 3 small petals and 3 long sepals. The sepals have white patches that are tinged with yellow, and have dark veins.
Slender Goldenrod
Flowers in interrupted clusters on the end of the stem. This goldenrod has smooth leaves and stems. The individual flowers are large compared to other goldenrods.
Slender Goldentop
Hundreds of small flower heads in large, branched clusters. The leaves are very narrow.
