Running Five-Fingers

Each plant has a single flower. Each of the 5 petals is narrow toward the center and rounded at the tip. The center of the flower is flattened and surrounded by many stamens.

Slender Goldentop

Hundreds of small flower heads in large, branched clusters. The leaves are very narrow.

Small-headed Sunflower

Flowers have 5-8 yellow petals with a yellow center disk. The leaves have long stalks, are rough and opposite.

Small’s Ragwort

Bright yellow flowers in branching flat-topped clusters with 20 or more individual flowers.

Smooth Ground-cherry

Yellow, funnel-shaped flowers with a slightly darker center. The stamens are blue. The plant leaves are large and are irregularly toothed. The leaves that surround the fruit look like a paper lantern.

Southern Crownbeard

Flower heads in a large, open, branching cluster. Flowers have a domed center disk of greenish-yellow tubular florets. The flowers are sparse and are not evenly arranged around the head of the flower. This makes the plant look like it is uneven or off balance.

Spotted Beebalm

Flowers in whorled clusters of 2-6 at the top of the stem. Each cluster of flowers is supported by large whitish to pink-purple leaf-like bracts. The flowers are yellow with purple spots, split into 2 lips. The lower lip has 3 lobes with a notched middle lobe, the upper lip is arched and hairy at the tip.

Spotted St. John’s-wort

Small, 5 petaled yellow flowers with tiny black spots. The leaves and stems also have tiny black spots.

Starry Rosinweed

Large, yellow, daisy-like flowers with 8-20 petals and a yellow center. The leaves can be alternate  or opposite.

Swamp Sunflower

Flowers have 8-21 yellow petals with a reddish or purplish-brown center disk.
