Henbit

Tubular flowers split into 2 lips. The upper lip is hooded and hairy. The lower, drooping lip has 3 lobes and purple spots. 6-10 flowers cluster at the top of the stem.

Half-inch yellow flower heads with 20-30 tiny, pea-shaped flowers.

Ivyleaf Speedwell

Solitary pale blue to lavender flowers with four petals growing between the leaves. The shape of the leaves resembles an ivy leaf.

Jack in the Pulpit

There are one to two leaves, each divided into 3 large leaflets, creating an umbrella for the flower. Under the leaves is the pulpit, which is a green, hooded cover surrounding the flower spike (or jack). The tiny flowers are hiding inside the pulpit and they are clustered on a green or yellow spike. The flower size mentioned here is the jack size.

Japanese Mazus

Pale purple flowers with two lips. The lower lip is longer and has 3 lobes. It is white with yellow spots. The upper lip is darker purple.

Leatherleaf Mahonia

3-6 inch spikes of yellow flowers. The leaves resemble holly leaves. There are 9-13 large leaflets, making the entire leaf 1-2 feet long. Fruit is a blue berry.

Goblet-shaped or lily-shaped flowers. The petals are pink-purple on the outside and white on the inside.
