5- 10 inch wide clusters of white flowers at the branch tips. Leaves are narrow and linear.
Japanese Honeysuckle
The 2-lipped flowers have 5 petals joined into a 1- to 2-inch long tube. The flowers are paired and supported by two leafy bracts.
Japanese Mazus
Pale purple flowers with two lips. The lower lip is longer and has 3 lobes. It is white with yellow spots. The upper lip is darker purple.
Kidneyleaf Rosinweed
Clusters of yellow flowers with 6-12 petals. The kidney-shaped leaves grow up to 14 inches long and are at the base of the plant.
Kousa Dogwood
The true flower is the small green center. It is surrounded by 4 white, petal-like, 2-3 inch long bracts that are pointed at the ends. These white bracts are commonly mistaken for the actual flowers. Flowers bloom after the leaves emerge, while flowering dogwood (Cornus florida) flowers before the leaves.
