About Quiet Nature
Quiet Nature aims to help people develop curiosity and an appreciation for the natural beauty in their community, starting from their own backyard.
Have you noticed which wildflowers are blooming along the sidewalk right now? How many pollinators are around? What kinds of birds are more active in your neighborhood?
It is easy to be lost in our busy lives, distracted and not seeing what’s happening even when we are outdoors. By being mindful and slowing down, we will discover the amazing world that surrounds all of us. Observing the minute details and catching the fleeting moments, we reconnect with nature and with our own senses and feelings.
What do we see beyond the ordinary objects – an emerging plant, a fallen leaf, a buzzing insect, etc.? Where did it come from? What’s the environment? How much has it changed? How does it interact with others or the elements? Everything has a hidden story waiting to be uncovered.
When we spend time outdoors, let nature stimulate our mind and invigorate our body.
Quiet Nature is a website for nature beginners. It is not a comprehensive collection of scientific information. It is one couple’s journey of discovering, learning, and documenting the world around them. While the information provided here is local and specific to the Triangle area of North Carolina, it is relevant, educational, and hopefully useful for anyone who is curious about nature.
Learn about wildflowers, their habitats, and the bugs and animals that interact with them. Learn about mindfulness and the benefits of walking in nature and seeing the extraordinary things hiding in plain sight.
Our Story:
Both Jaclyn and Fang are trained as scientists, but not in the subjects of botany or ecology. They are naturally curious and enjoy learning and discovering while walking on the local trails. They created this website to share their journey and encourage others to join them.
Follow along on their journey in Quiet Nature.
