I thought it would be fun to share some statistics from my nature walks this year:

  • 448 different flower species were photographed
  • 160 new (to me) plant species were identified
  • Animals seen:
    • 40 types of birds
    • 35 different butterflies, moths and skippers
    • 93 kinds of bugs, including 17 different bees/wasps, 11 types of dragonflies, and 9 different spiders
    • 5 kinds of frogs and toads
    • 4 different snakes
    • 3 types of turtles (I saw the snapping turtle twice!)
    • 5 kinds of lizards
    • I can’t forget about the periodical cicadas! How many hundreds did I see and hear this spring?
  • Over 750 miles walked

I hope you enjoyed coming along on this journey with me! I’m looking forward to many new adventures in 2025. Happy New Year!
