I thought it would be fun to share some statistics from my nature walks this year:
- 448 different flower species were photographed
- 160 new (to me) plant species were identified
- Animals seen:
- 40 types of birds
- 35 different butterflies, moths and skippers
- 93 kinds of bugs, including 17 different bees/wasps, 11 types of dragonflies, and 9 different spiders
- 5 kinds of frogs and toads
- 4 different snakes
- 3 types of turtles (I saw the snapping turtle twice!)
- 5 kinds of lizards
- I can’t forget about the periodical cicadas! How many hundreds did I see and hear this spring?
- Over 750 miles walked
I hope you enjoyed coming along on this journey with me! I’m looking forward to many new adventures in 2025. Happy New Year!
