Trolls at Dix Park

Mother Strong Tail

Have you been to Dix Park in Raleigh to see the trolls? These beautiful wooden sculptures by Thomas Dambo were installed in the fall of 2025.

Mother Strong Tail
Daddy Bird Eye
Dix
Dux
Dax

Some helpful tips if you plan to go:

  • You have to walk through grassy fields to see each troll.
  • I parked at the parking lot at Flowers Field (at the corner of Blair Drive and Umstead Drive), and could access four out of five trolls from there.
  • From the parking lot, walk away from Umstead Drive, through the field to the Pine Loop Trail. There you will find Dix peeking out of the woods, and Mother Strong Tail behind her in the woods.
  • Cross Umstead Drive from the parking lot and walk between the dog park and Blair Drive. Stay close to the tree line on your left and you will find Dux and Dax.
  • Daddy Bird Eye is easy to see, but kind of hard to get to. He is found close to the corner of Umstead Drive and South Boylan Avenue. It is probably best to park in the parking lots at the corner of Umstead Drive and Richardson Drive and walk down to The Grove at South Boylan Avenue. I parked in the small lot at the end of Tate Drive, and then had to walk up the very steep hill toward the owl sculpture, “Sophia Fortuna (Wise Luck)”.

You can find more information about the trolls on the Dix Park website.
